If you’re in the Seattle region and thinking about getting a Windows Phone 7, you might want to do it in the next couple days, because the demand is about to spike, and the supplies could dwindle.
As we’ve reported in the past, Microsoft promised Windows Phones to every employee as part of the rollout of the new platform. But rather than handing out the devices internally, the company is telling employees to buy the phones through retail channels and file expense reports to cover the cost.
However, the company has also been telling them to hold off on their purchases until Nov. 18 to give Microsoft’s customers a chance to buy their phones first. Like the company’s customers, many employees are expected to wait until the devices are available on Verizon or Sprint. But with more than 53,000 employees in the US, including more than 40,000 in the Seattle region, it’s almost like a second launch day.
