Nokia hails Lumia 800 a hit

LONDON, United Kingdom – Nokia sources tonight confirmed the Nokia Lumia 800 is destined to be a huge hit.

The level of UK pre-orders has been higher for Lumia than any previous Nokia handset.

Nokia spokesman, Ray Haddow, said that early indications from the operators and retail partners confirmed a high level of pre-orders.

Haddow said: “The level of pre-orders, as well as reaction in shops today, lead us to be very positive about the launch of the Nokia Lumia 800.

“The public have had hands on in many retail stores over the past week and were in store in abundance today, not only trying out this amazing device, but signing up for some of the great deals available.

“In addition, we’ve had lots of people saying that they intend to switch to the Nokia Lumia 800 at their next upgrade. Especially given some of the great offers available at the moment”

The Nokia Lumia 800 went on sale in the UK today after hitting the stores in Germany yesterday and will be available in France tomorrow, where demand is also been very high.

Beautifully designed, with top of the range spec and big value apps, the affordable deals being offered in Europe are making it irresistible.

Nokia Lumia 800 is got excellent start in UK

Finnish Nokia the world’s largest mobile phone maker by volume, Wednesday said sales in the U.K. of its Lumia 800 smart phone, its first smartphone based on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Phone platform, were off to an "excellent start."

"Based on earliest data, the sales start of the Lumia 800 is the best ever first week of Nokia smart phone sales in the U.K. in recent history," Nokia spokesman James Etheridge said.

The comment came as Nokia’s share price fell sharply Tuesday on reports sales were off to a bad start.

"While it is not our policy to disclose individual product sales figures outside our quarterly financial results, we feel there has been premature sales analysis on the performance of the Lumia 800," Etheridge said.

Based on Net Promoter Scores–which measure a consumer’s willingness to recommend the product to a friend–the Lumia 800 has received the highest score of any Nokia device launched in recent history in the U.K., Nokia said.

"Given our deliberate, sequenced roll out across countries and with future launches ahead, this is a critical metric for long-term success," Etheridge said.

All the best Windows Phone and Nokia.

Cheers!

Nokia’s Upcoming Windows Phone 7 Sea Ray Leaked

A fresh video of Nokia’s upcoming Sea Ray, powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7, has started doing the rounds on YouTube. The newest video was leaked from a development factory in either China or Hong Kong.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, Back in June, teased the world with a brief glimpse of the Sea Ray, which looked like the new Nokia N9, introduced just the day before the CEO’s presentation.

Previously it was expected that the Sea Ray would arrive after the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update was introduced. The new video suggests that that the update could arrive as early as August.

The captured video has shown the smartphone in a more detailed way. Specifications are yet to be revealed, but the video shows the Sea Ray has hardware buttons and is already running the Mango update. The smartphone, however, does not have a front-facing camera for video chat options, as the Mango update is expected to bring forward a sea of video calling applications like Fring and Skype.

The version of the Mango shown in the video is RTM (release to manufacturer) and is specifically of build 7710, wpcentral reported.
